The rankings are based on accommodations, things to do with your dog, beaches, parks and dog-friendly patio dining. - Carmel/Monterey, CA - many pet friendly accommodation. Off leash Carmel City Beach. You can shop and dine in luxury. Also, many hiking and walking options.
- Bar Harbor/Acadia, ME - In Acadia there are pet friendly National Parks. You can shop in historic downtown or take a ferry/boat cruise.
- Black Hills, SD - Lots of dog-friendly attractions and campgrounds. Mt. Rushmore and the Badlands National Park are worth visiting with a dog.
- St. Augustine, FL - You can tour the historic downtown or take a harbor boat cruise or ghost tour.
- Cape Cod, MA - You can take in Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard along with visiting Cape Cods National Seashore.
