Hotels.com Reports 30% Drop on New York City Hotel Rates

According to hotels.com Hotel Price Index --
New York City Hotel Rates
Drop 30 Percent in the First Half of 2009

Compared to the same period in 2008 New York City hotel rates dropped 30 percent tying them with Las Vegas as the greatest price fall among major U.S. cities. However, despite the drop in rates, New York still had the most expensive hotel prices in the U.S. and seventh most expensive globally.

"Hotel rates are at a historic low right now and it's the perfect time to take advantage of the great deals in New York City and around the northeast." said Steve Dumaine, senior director of merchandising for hotels.com.

Not only did New York hotels drop in price but it appears that the city is one of the most favored destination for U.S. and international travelers across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. New York was second amongst American travelers and first among foreign travelers.

New York City held its spot as the most expensive domestic city for U.S. travelers, ranking seventh globally.

Chocolate Lovers Delight

For those of you who love chocolate and just want to get away then NYC is the place to be. The New York Chocolate Tours is launching a new itinerary in one of New York's most vibrant neighbourhoods. The Bowery Lane Chocolate Tour will take participants on a two-hour sensory voyage throughout the historical lower East Side. Participants will be taken on a journey of chocolate delights and other exciting adventures. The stops are carefully orchestrated as to strike a balance between chocolate-making styles, diversity of flavours and exciting wine pairings. Participants will venture into a vintage shop with a penchant for liqueurs and hot spices to a trendy bar with lots of caffeine on offer, to a European-style artisanal boutique, to a very rock'n'roll store and a health-centric bakery.

The founder, Carmen Botez, says, "This tour takes the company to a whole new level of ball game. We're integrating more elements with each new itinerary and what makes the Bowery Lane so special is its capacity to marry so many different styles of chocolaterie harmoniously. At the same time it makes it easy for the participants to understand the different types of chocolate out there."

If you are ready to delight yourself in such an extravagant tour than check out their site at www.sweetwalks.com or call 212-209-3370.
